GONE TOO SOON...

Michael Jackson............Extraordinary talent, perpetual "Peter Pan", innocent lost. I am sad for his untimely death for I loved his songs, but I mourn his bazaar and troubled life or what it appeared to be, because when all is said and done only he knew the truth of his life.
I try to understand, but his obvious biography begs the question; How much? How much talent, how much money, how much adoration, how much celebrity does it take to make one happy? Is it possible to overcome the whispers of self loathing in your head? Michael was an icon for all of us, a living symbol of: it matters not what the whole world proclaims you to be, if within yourself you see an abhoration. With all the gifts Michael possessed his should have had a blessed life and yet at some point it tilted into a hideous montage of scandal and the ever morphing mask. Why?
In the end however when the fans have gone home, the vultures have moved on and the legal system has exacted their pound of flesh, what remains will be the legacy of his fabulous music, and seemingly endless talent, and in that he is indeed "Gone Too Soon." But by what face will he be remembered?

ETERNAL PERSPECTIVE...

I am not my car, I am not my clothes, nor am I the house I live in or anything I posses or the friends I hang out with, although I may choose to become like them.
I came into this world with nothing, and the only thing I can take away with me when I go is what I have learned and the kind of person I have become because of my choices.
It seems to me that it would behoove us all to worry a great deal more about the kind of person we are going leave as, then all the things we are going to leave behind. Why is this so hard to keep in mind???

WASTED ON THE WAY....

painting by Daniel Merriam
Look around me I can see my life before me
running rings around the way it used to be.

I am older now I have more then what I wanted,
but I wish that I had started long before I did.

And there is so much time to make up every where you turn,
time we have wasted on the way.
So much water moving underneath the bridge
Let the water come and carry us away.

When you were young did you question all the answers,
did you envy all the dancer who had all the nerve.

Look around you now, you must go for what you wanted
Look at all my friends who did and got what they deserved.

So much love to make up every where you turn
Love we have wasted on the way.
So much water moving underneth the bridge
Let the water come and carry us away.

WHAT'S IN A NAME...

Found this painting on the web unfortunately no artist was given credit. I thought it was an interesting subject upon first glance, a boy affectionately holding a fish but when I read the title the picture took on a whole new meaning. The title of the painting is "Peter the Apostle".
